Many hardware products can be configured independantly of the computer systems and software supplied.
This is particular appropriate when LAN or ADSL Routers and incorporated into a system.
Configuring computers to use TCP/IP When DHCP is not in use or there is more than one router conencted to the LAN it will normally be necessary to route data to the appropriate router.
This is acheived by setting the Gateway address in the PC's TCP/IP properties form to the IP address of the router to be used.
ADSL Routers Always turn the firewall on unless the router is only used internally within a WAN/LAN in which case you may need to leave it off to enable 2 way data transmission.
