Notepad and Logging Tabs

The Notepad and Logging tabs are identical to use. The main difference is that they save their files in different locations on the hard drive.

The Notepad is provided to enable users to save information for retrieval at a later date.

The Logging tab is to enable users to get records of day to day, weekly or monthly operations. This is completely different from the error and operational logs created and maintained by the system. Users should not attempt to edit system log files.

These tabs can be accessed by either clicking the Logs toolbar button or from the View | Logs and Reminders menu and selecting the Logging option.

These tabs have several buttons situated at the top of the tab. They provide editing functions as follows.

The Open button display a file open box to allow the user to choose which file to open. The default directory governs the recommended location of the files. Whilst it is possible to save files elsewhere they could be lost during maintenance clean-up operations.
The Save button presents the user with a file save box allowing the user to choose where to save the file. The default directory governs the recommended location of the files. Whilst it is possible to save files elsewhere they could be lost during maintenance clean-up operations.

The New button blanks the current editor window ready for the entry of the new data.

The Pad button opens the current text page in a notepad editor program. This can enable additional features to be used, such as printing. The type of features available is dependant on the document editor that is opened. The default is usually set to Windows Wordpad.

Mouse Button Operations

Right Mouse Click - Displays the popup edit menu.
Middle Mouse Click - Displays the popup file action menu.
